It’s because they aren’t purebred and still new here in the dog world. But of course, their parent breeds- American Bulldog and Dogue de Bordeaux have amazing histories.

Dogue de Bordeaux was used for protection as well as a cattle driver. Their quantity suddenly decreased during the time of World War I, but they made a comeback by increasing in numbers.

Ramond Triquet was the one who saved this breed and formed the club, Dogue de Bordeaux.

This breed is still used as herd cattle and guard dogs. Originally, the use of American Bulldogs was for blood sports, but eventually, their other uses were found.

Like they were very capable of hunting huge prey, this breed was also on the verge of extinction until, one day, a fine man named John D. Johnson saved them by breeding them.

Their population grew only after World War. Fascinating, isn’t it Let’s take a further look into the characteristics of this breed.
